We have published a new article in the professional journal Acta medicinae on tumor syndromes.
In the latest issue of the journal Acta medicinae, Dr. Zděnka Vlčková, head of the clinical genetics department at GHC Genetics, published a comprehensive article on hereditary cancer syndromes.
Cancer is the second most common cause of death. Within this group, there are so-called hereditary tumor syndromes, which are characterized by the possibility of transmission between generations. Approximately 5–10% of all cancers arise from an inherited predisposition. Tumors then develop on the basis of inherited germline mutations in tumor suppressor or DNA repair genes. A particular type of cancer usually occurs more frequently and at a younger age in personal and family medical histories.
