GHC Genetics significantly supported the "Plešouni" project for children with cancer

The Plešouni project is a Czech charity educational multimedia project - an animated series (13 episodes) is being created, which explains to children in an understandable and sensitive way what to expect during treatment, how chemotherapy works or how to cope with psychologically challenging moments. The series is created with an emphasis on humour, empathy and playfulness, which helps children process complex emotions and information. In addition to the series, the project also includes a mobile and tablet app that serves as an interactive guide to treatment. GHC Genetics financially supported this project and adopted an important character within the bald identity - Captain CHEMO. He is the main sidekick to children going through challenging cancer treatments in their upcoming series.

The app offers educational content tailored to the child's age (e.g. how medicines work, what happens in the body during treatment, etc.). Mini-games and interactive elements help distract attention and relieve stress. It also includes light sports exercises, such as yoga, tailored to the abilities of children undergoing treatment, which serve to support their physical and mental condition. Psychological support in the form of stories, characters and practical tips. A space for parents where they can find useful information, expert advice and the opportunity to share experiences.

The author of the Plešouni project is Eliška Podzimková, an illustrator and animator who underwent cancer treatment at the age of sixteen. It was this personal experience that inspired her to create Plešouni, an animated series that explains the course of treatment to children with cancer in an understandable and sensitive way and helps them cope with difficult moments with humour and empathy. We are delighted to support this beautiful and meaningful project.
