Human papillomavirus (HPV)
A microbiological examination focused on the 30 most high-risk HPV types can detect the infection and its associated risks before pathological changes occur in the body or the first symptoms appear, significantly contributing to the early initiation of appropriate treatment. The sample for analysis is obtained by swabbing the urethra, neck or rectum.
Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection is the most widespread sexually transmitted infection worldwide. Certain types of papillomaviruses can cause both malignant and benign tumors of the cervix, genitals, head, and neck, while others, for example, cause genital warts.
HPV is transmitted through direct contact with an infected person via mucous membranes and microtraumas of the skin, most commonly as a result of sexual intercourse. The clinical manifestations of the infection are highly variable, typically affecting the genital and anal areas, but it can also involve other mucosal regions such as the mouth, nose, conjunctiva, and throat. In some individuals, however, the infection may be entirely asymptomatic.
Our test detects 18 high-risk (HR) and 12 low-risk (LR) HPV types, including the highly oncogenic HPV 16 and HPV 18, which are responsible for up to 70% of cervical cancer cases. The presence of the virus does not automatically indicate cancer, but it calls for more frequent monitoring of the patient's health to detect any potential tumor growth at an early stage.
Which HPV types we test for: 6, 11, 16, 18, 26, 31, 33, 35, 39, 40, 42, 43, 44, 45, 51, 52, 53, 54, 56, 58, 59, 61, 66, 67, 68, 69, 70, 73, 81, 82.
You will receive the result within 3-5 days.
