How does the PCR test work?
The PCR test is a highly specific and sensitive test aimed at detecting the presence of virus
ribonucleic acid (RNA), whereas purposefully searching for genes specific for SARS-CoV-2.
This test is the only one recommended for the most reliable diagnosis of the disease.
What documents do I need to submit before I undergo the test?
It is always necessary to carry an identity card (ID card or passport) regardless of being
a holder of an E-request or being a self-payer. An identity check must always be performed.
How are the PCR test samples collected?
Collection is performed with a disposable sterile special brush, which is inserted into the
nose. The virus also multiplies in the cells of the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory
tract, so it is necessary to take a swab from the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx to
make the examination in the laboratory as accurate as possible. In case of health problems, client can ask for a collection from the oral cavity.
How much does the PCR test cost?
1 750, - CZK / 65,- EUR for a standard PCR test.
When do I get my test results?
We guarantee the time of issuing the results up to a maximum of 24 hours, but we draw your
attention to the fact (confirmed and fully accepted by the tested person by undergoing the
test at GHC GENETICS), that if the PCR test result proves to be so-called inconclusive and
must be repeated due to the set legal quality standards to avoid an incorrect conclusion of
the result, the time of issuance of the test result may be extended.
In which situations do you perform a new sample collection?
In case the test is inconclusive twice in a row, it is always necessary to take a new sample to
be able to perform a new measurement. Although this does not happen often, it is possible
in exceptional cases. In those cases, we ask the client to come to the sampling point, where
a new sample will be taken. For such case, we no longer charge the client for the test,
regardless of being a self-payer or holder of an E-request from a doctor.
What form do I get the result?
In the form of a SMS message. You will receive the test result (negative / positive) and a code through
which you will gain access to a secure link that will be sent to your e-mail and through
which you can download the laboratory report. If you have also paid for the Certificate
of Infectivity from the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic, it will be a part of this
report. The whole process is in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Do you issue a proof of payment (receipt) retrospectively?
We are sorry, but we do not reissue the simplified tax document (receipt) that every self-payer receives upon collection.
Therefore, it is always necessary to carefully keep the receipt, to which we try to draw the
attention of the tested persons as much as possible right at the sampling point.
It is like asking for a new receipt at supermarket.
What other types of tests do you offer?
In addition to the PCR test and the PCR Express test with result delivery within 2 hours, we also
offer an immunochromatographic test (RAPID test) for the presence of antibodies ( 700, - CZK) with
a test result within 15 minutes. From November 2020, we also offer an antigen test (750, - CZK)
with a similarly fast evaluation, which is suitable for confirming the disease in the early
phase if the person also has typical symptoms.
Where are your sampling points?
You can find the current list of our sampling points with all the information in the Sampling points tab.
Each sampling point has its strategic importance and is intended primarily for a different group
of people. It also has its logical geographical justification, especially as regards the sampling
point on Wenceslas Square and Václav Havel Airport. Our sampling points in the DRIVE-IN mode
(testing from a car) at the Holešovice Exhibition Grounds and at the Džbán lake are the most efficient
in terms of limiting contact with other people who want to be tested.
Do I have to report the result of a positive test to
the hygiene station or do you report it as a laboratory?
Tested person is not obliged to report the test result even in the case of test positivity. The results will
be provided by GHC Genetics to the hygienic station within approximately 3 hours from the time
of evaluation of the given result. Tested person is obliged to follow the relevant regulations in case of test positivity.
Do even small children have to be tested?
When entering the state that requires the examination for minors, it is usually necessary to test all persons,
regardless of their age. It is always advisable to check before entering a specific state at the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic what is the current regulation for testing minors and proceed accordingly.
Is a negative test enough for the destination where I am flying?
For information regarding the requirements of individual countries within the border crossing, please contact the
information portal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Ministry of
Health of the Czech Republic:
Although in most cases a negative test is enough for you, many countries require a Certificate of Infectivity
of the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic. It is always necessary to monitor which country
we are heading to and which countries, if we drive, we will pass. The situation is different in each
country. It is dynamically evolving, and it cannot be ruled out that in a country where
only a test was required, a certificate will now be required, even during the stay.
